With views of Catria, Petrano and Nerone, close to Furlo and between the Maiano and Metauro valleys, surrounded by all the beauty that the “Alte Marche” have to offer, lies the Labeeuw family vineyard on the slopes of Monte di Porrea, in Smirra di Cagli.

Our wines

At Monte di Porrea, we produce wines with respect for nature and tradition. We offer a red, a white and a rosé, each with its own character connected to the local terroir.

A terroir with a story

It was established more than 100 years ago and has continued to be cultivated by the Bucchi family since 1928. The wine enjoyed a good reputation even beyond the Cagli area.

Originally, the vineyard consisted of two parts:

  • In the upper part, mainly Sangiovese, Barbera, Petrignone and Lacrima were grown, with various local red varieties in between.
  • The lower part was mainly reserved for white grape varieties: Bianchello, Malvasia, and others.

When Gérard Labeeuw purchased the property in 2009, he hesitated to keep the vineyard — the amount of restoration work discouraged him. But the challenge of restoring the old vineyard while respecting tradition, using the same planting methods and the same grape varieties, was simply too great to resist!

As was the goal of pursuing the quality and reputation of the past. Always with the motto:

Then, in 2015, the “white vineyard” was restored, with a wide range of varieties: Bianchello, Malvasia, Pecorino, Moscato… which in fact lacked consistency, so we chose to start from scratch and plant the...

“Incrocio Bruni 54”: ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ and ‘Verdicchio’, the best of both worlds. Both varieties come together in IB54 in a unique and perfect synergy.

A relatively modern grape with low yields per hectare: small berries and small grape bunches, not very interesting for those seeking quantity, but very appealing for those who want to make a quality wine with a pleasant, distinctive and easily recognizable taste.

From 2020 to 2023, additional hectares were planted with various grape varieties: Sauvignon Rosso, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Incrocio Bruni, but above all Sangiovese Grosso VCR5.

All are cultivated with the same care, and we hope they will contribute to a promising future for “Vini Voltige.”
